This month we’re travelling to KENYA!

Kenya was named after Mount Kenya the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro (in Tanzania)

Kenya is a beautiful country located in the East part of Africa. They have a lot of wildlife, unlike anywhere else, including elephants, hippos, zebras and lions! Kenya is known for their tourism especially through their many safaris and exporting coffee. However Kenya has a very large gap between rich and poor, meaning the rich are very rich and the poor are very poor. In fact many people live in what is known as slums, an overcrowded urban area known for its poverty, and they lack basic needs and opportunities including: WATER, HEALTHCARE, and SCHOOLS. Due to this, people do not know how to read, employment is very low and many people especially children get very sick.

This month you are helping the work of:
Changing Times, Kenya
Partner since 2013

Changing Times works in one of the largest slums in Africa located in Nairobi called the Kibera slums. Here they serve the people there in any way they can. Their desire is to show the love of Jesus through holistic ministry – this means that they help in a lot of ways that help them physically, spiritually, emotionally and socially. Changing Times opened up a school to help the kids have a chance to end the cycle of poverty for their family. They also do the following:

Please Pray: Kenya needs your prayers. Please pray for the children – that they would receive education and complete school. Pray that all of their basic needs would be met and any medical needs would be looked after as well. Pray for the workers of Changing Times, that they would be encouraged and continue to serve and rely on God’s strength. Pray for the construction and expansion of the Changing Times school. And pray that those in the Kibera slums would know God in a personal way.
