Canada holds the record for the most gold medals ever won at the Winter Olympics, taking 14 Golds at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Don’t forget to cheer Canada on in Brazil this summer for the Summer Olympics!

We would like to share with you this month a little about Partners International and why we exist.

Partners International began in 1943 supporting their first indigenous missionary, Calvin Chao of China. The Canadian office opened its doors in 1963 after Dr George Doxsee assembled a board of influential Christian businessmen with the vision to support indigenous leaders in their context. As the years continued, Partners International began expanding across the globe starting with partnerships in China, Liberia and India – some of which still are our partners today.

We now have 5 Alliance offices: Canada, USA, UK, Singapore and Australia and over 110 partners in 56 countries with a focus on the 10/40 window*.

At Partners International we work with local, Christian partners throughout the world and come alongside their God-given vision to help transform the least reached and least resourced areas of the world through the holistic power of the gospel. Through good partnership, we are able to accomplish many things. Here are some Global Impact results from Canadian-led projects in the past year:

This month you will be helping WHERE MOST NEEDED. This category allows us to use resources depending on the need of our partners. Next month we will share with you where that was and how you helped.

Celebrate with us today and this month the great country of Canada and Canadians like you who help make this world a better place! Here are some exciting highlights from our perspective over the past year:

Partners International President, Kevin McKay visits Peru to encourage our partners working among the Amazon tribes

Julia Bowering, Associate Pastor of Kings Community Church goes on a Discovery Trip along with a group of Canadians to Lebanon and Jordan to support our partners in their work with Syrian refugees

The grade 5 class of Wesley Christian Academy in Markham, ON raised funds for a Girls Home in Lebanon through our Hope in Action catalogue

Renee Heemskerk, Partnership Manager recently visits our Liberian partner for a scheduled monitoring trip, just months earlier the WHO declared the official end to the Ebola crisis.

PLEASE PRAY: Please pray for our country and our leaders. Pray for wisdom and grace for us all as we continue to love God and love our neighbours. Please pray for the Canadian office at Partners International as we start a new fiscal year. Pray that God will direct us and guide and that we would be a unified team and obedient to His call.
