August: Lebanon

This month we’re going to Lebanon!

  • Capital: Beirut
  • Population: 4.467 million (2013)
  • Main Languages: Arabic
  • Major Religions: 54% Muslim, 5.6% Druze, 40% Christian

DID YOU KNOW: Lebanon is the only Arab country that has no desert.

This month you are helping our partner:
The Free Evangelical Association of Lebanon (FEAL), Lebanon
Partner since 1994

FEAL’s head office is located in Beirut, Lebanon but their workers & ministry spans throughout the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa).

Surrounded by turmoil and constant instability, the MENA region can often be difficult and dangerous. People are suffering on many levels and seek help and answers to many questions. Among the people that FEAL helps are the Kurds, an ethnic minority that has been mistreated and persecuted for generations, Syrian Refugees both within and outside of Syria’s borders as well as helping abandoned and vulnerable girls through their Beit El Safa Home for Girls.

FEAL and their workers are motivated to help the people of their regions holistically in their context. This includes:

Oasis Program:

FEAL has been working in Lebanon since 1994. In 2011 it began to focus on helping refugees entering the country from Syria. FEAL developed the Oasis program to provide refugees with basic food, clothing and other short-term relief supplies. More importantly, FEAL’s workers and volunteers serve the refugee families with Christian love and respect. They help these refugees to achieve stability and find their footing in a new country. The Oasis program provides them with transitional housing as well as education for children and skills training for adults. With local Arabic-speaking Christians, God is touching the lives of Syrian refugee families. No matter where they will go, whether they will get permanent or transient status in Lebanon, the footprint of Jesus’ love will be left in their hearts through their Oasis experience. This month your gift will go towards the Oasis program that FEAL runs.

PLEASE PRAY: FEAL is working in a very dangerous context for being a Christian. All of our workers are believers and share the love and truth of Christ. Please pray for protection of our workers and those who come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Also pray for the conflict in the MENA region. Pray that the destruction, tragedy, anger and sadness would come to an end.
